The Missouri Division of Tourism is prepared to assist journalists, photographers and film crews with assignments requiring a visit to Missouri.

Assistance includes:

• itinerary development and recommendations
• story research
• serving as liaisons between specific destination marketing organizations

If a specific destination request is made, the Missouri Division of Tourism will work with the appropriate destination marketing organization in that area to determine what level of assistance they can provide (accommodations, meals, admission to attractions, arranging interviews, etc.).

Requests for press trip assistance must be made in writing and sent via mail and/or e-mail at least four weeks in advance of the press trip. For travel during peak season (May-September), requests must be made at least six weeks in advance.

The written request should include the following:

• Complete contact information for visiting journalist(s) (address, telephone and fax numbers, e-mail, etc.)
• If itinerary is known, the exact dates of visit
• The desired destinations for overnight accommodations
• Any special requests or story angles
• The size of the traveling party and names of persons in the party. Please note that the Missouri Division of Tourism will not underwrite expenses for traveling companions, unless they are also on assignment (i.e. photographer, film crew) or under exceptional circumstances, including ADA assistance.
• Information on the media outlet you are representing. If writing for print, include the name of the publication, frequency, circulation and expected run date of the article. If on assignment for broadcast, include the name of the program, audience numbers, and expected date and time of broadcast.

Please provide as many details about your press visit as possible so the Division of Tourism staff may better assist in planning your trip.

Missouri will consider underwriting airfare and ground transportation and accommodation and meal expenses for journalists visiting the state, and will consider providing drivers and escorts. Consideration is based on the following guidelines and requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis:

• Preference is given to writers on assignment. If on assignment, please include a letter of introduction from your editor/producer.
• Writers must submit copies of recently published travel articles and a recent bio.
• Preference is given to writers who contribute to publications that are national in scope or that reach consumers in Missouri's target markets.

Requests should be sent to:

Barb Hannon, Missouri Tourism News Bureau, 505 Walnut, 3rd Floor, Kansas City, MO 64106, or via email to newsbureau@nationranch.com.
