JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — A full slate of events is scheduled as Jefferson City prepares for the inauguration of Missouri’s 55th Governor, Jeremiah W. “Jay” Nixon, on Monday, January 12, 2009.
The Inaugural Parade begins at 10:00 a.m. in front of the Missouri River Regional Library, located at 214 Adams Street, and proceeds to the Capitol. The Swearing-In Ceremony begins at 11:15 a.m. on the south steps of the Capitol. In the event of inclement weather, the inauguration will be moved to the Capitol rotunda.
Afternoon and evening activities are as follows:
• Public Greeting from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Missouri Governor’s Mansion • Inaugural Potluck Dinner from 1:30 to 5 p.m. at the Capitol Plaza Hotel • The Grand March begins at 7 p.m. at the State Capitol • The Inaugural Ball begins at 8 p.m. at the State Capitol.

• Visit the Cole County Historical Society and see the display of inaugural gowns worn by Missouri’s first ladies. Hours are 1- 4 p.m., $3 for adults, $1 for children. • Take a tour of the Missouri State Capitol. Open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., with tours every half hour starting at 9 a.m. The last tour starts at 4 p.m. No tour at noon. Free admission. • The Missouri Supreme Court Building provides free tours on the half hour from 9-11:30 a.m. and from 1-3:30 p.m.
