2009 marks the centennial anniversary of the Kansas City Zoo, which has grown into the nation's 10th largest zoo and one of "America's Best Zoos in 2008" according to The Intrepid Traveler magazine. In celebration of the centennial, the zoo is opening a new exhibit in the original 1909 building entitled "Tropics, an indoor rainforest featuring primates, mammals and birds from Asia, Africa and South America."
